White Collar is a USA Network crime, comedy-drama television series created by Jeff Eastin, starring Matt Bomer as con-man Neal Caffrey and Tim DeKay as Special Agent Peter Burke.
t is about a convicted white collar criminal who winds up working for the FBI man who caught him. To stay out of prison, convicted bond forger Neal Caffrey offers to help the FBI capture other white collar criminals using his expertise as an art and securities thief, counterfeiter and racketeer.
Neal Caffrey, a con-man, forger and thief, is captured after a three-year game of cat and mouse with the FBI. With three months left while serving a four-year sentence, he escapes from a maximum-security federal prison to find Kate, his ex-girlfriend. Peter Burke, the FBI agent who initially captured Caffrey, finds him at a dead end in his search and returns Caffery to prison. This time, Caffrey gives Burke information about evidence in another case; however, this information comes with a price: Burke must have a meeting with Caffrey.
It premiered on October 23, 2009. In December 2009, White Collar was renewed for a second season beginning on July 13, 2010; USA Network did not announce the number of episodes ordered.
WHITE COLLAR stars Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay, Tiffani Thiessen, Willie Garson and Sharif Atkins in one of this fall season’s most critically-acclaimed dramas about the most unlikely of partnerships between a con artist (Bomer) and an FBI agent (DeKay). Marsha Thomason (”Lost”) re-joins the cast as a series regular for season two with Diahann Carroll returning as a recurring guest-star. This exciting crime drama, which was the most critically-acclaimed and highest rated new shows on cable in its first season, will kick off its season two this July with all new cases, more intrigue, more “bromance”…and more Matt Bomer, People Magazine’s “Sexiest Rising Star” of 2009. Tim Matheson (”The West Wing,” USA’s BURN NOTICE) both directs and guest stars in the premiere.
WHITE COLLAR was created and is executive produced by Jeff Eastin and comes from Fox Television Studios. Jeff King and Clifton Campbell are co-executive producers. The show is shot entirely in and around New York City. USA’s strategic move of WHITE COLLAR to a new night in January resulted in younger audiences and higher demos. The show stayed among the quarter’s top scripted originals. WHITE COLLAR enjoyed +17% gains from 2009 in P18-34 viewing and improved +2% in P18-49 viewing from 4Q09. It was one of the only scripted series to average over 2 million P18-49 or 4.5 million total viewers in 1Q10.
