Last Comic Standing is an American reality television talent show that aired from 2003 to 2008. The objective of the program was to select a comedian from a group, who will receive a development contract with the NBC television network and a special first to air on the cable-TV network Comedy Central and later on the cable network Bravo.

Once the selection process is narrowed to 10, the show covers the contestants as they live together and compete for an exclusive contract with NBC, and to be called the Last Comic Standing. In Season 3 (”The Battle of the Best”), the object of the contest was the first season’s 10 finalists versus second season’s 10 finalists. No immunity challenges this time, or time spent showing the comics living together. It’s pure stand-up.

In March 2009 it was announced that the show had been canceled and would not be returning for a seventh season. However, on December 30, 2009 Entertainment Weekly reported that NBC was in talks to bring the show back to the air. On February 26, 2010, it was announced that Craig Robinson would become the new host of the series.

The Emmy-nominated “Last Comic Standing” competition series returns to NBC for its seventh season in search of the funniest comedian in America with new host Craig Robinson (NBC’s “The Office”). The show scans the country looking for the best stand-up comedian with the winner receiving an exclusive talent deal with NBC and $250,000.
