Huge is an upcoming ABC Family network television series based on young-adult novel of the same name by Sasha Paley. The hour-long drama series revolves around seven teens sent to a summer weight-loss camp called Wellness Canyon. Winnie Holzman (creator of My So-Called Life) and Savannah Dooley wrote the pilot. The series has been described as Glee meets Ugly Betty.

Nikki Blonsky, from Hairspray, plays Willamina, a typical teenager girl facing struggles with body images in ABC Family’s new series “Huge”. Seven teenage girls and the staff of Wellness Canyon, a weight-loss camp, find out who they are skin deep. Based on the book “Huge,” by author Sasha Paley’s, the girls will go on a journey to find themselves and each other.

Nikki Blonsky (”Hairspray”) is set to star as Willamina, aka Will, an opinionated, sardonic non-conformist who is not happy that her parents sent her to Camp Victory, a weight loss camp run by Dr. Rand, played by Gina Torres. The cast also includes Hayley Hasselhoff as Amber, Zander Eckhouse as George, Stephan Van Ray as Trent, Harvey Guillen as Alistair, Ari Stidham as Ian, Raven Goodwin as Becca and Ashley Holliday as Chloe.

This new series is being developed by Winnie Holzman (”Wicked,” “My So-Called Life,” “Once & Again”) and her daughter, Savannah Dooley. Casting began in January, with production beginning in April 2010. The series premiere has been scheduled for June 28, 2010 at 9 p.m. ET.
